Getting started
After you download Catgrams, here's how to set things up:
- Create an account with email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple (iOS).
- Tell us about your cat — name, breed, gender, and at least one personality trait (like Aloof, Chill, or Sassy).
- Upload photos of your cat from your photo library. These power your daily Catgram and chat.
- Create a Cat Sticker (optional) — turn a photo into a cartoon sticker for the Care screen. You can skip this and do it later from Account.
- Start chatting! Open the Chat tab to see your daily Catgram and send your first message.
Account & sign-in
How do I sign in?
You can sign in with email and password, Continue with Google, or Sign in with Apple on iOS. Use the same method you chose when you created your account.
I forgot my password
If you signed up with email and password and can't log in, email support@catgrams.com from the address linked to your account and we'll help you regain access. If you originally signed up with Google or Apple, use those options on the login screen instead.
How do I sign out?
Go to the Account tab, scroll down, and tap Sign out. You'll be asked to confirm before signing out.
Daily Catgram & notifications
What is a Catgram?
A Catgram is a daily photo from your cat's album, delivered in the Chat tab once per calendar day. It's a fun way to get a new glimpse of your kitty every day.
Why don't I see a daily photo?
You need at least one photo uploaded in the Account tab. If your library is empty, you'll see a prompt to add photos first. A new Catgram appears once each calendar day — check back tomorrow if you've already received today's.
How do daily reminders work?
Catgrams can send an optional local notification around 8:00 AM in your time zone to remind you when a new Catgram is ready. You'll be asked for permission the first time; you can also enable or disable notifications anytime in your device's Settings app under Catgrams.
Chat
How do replies work?
When you send a message, Catgrams uses AI to generate a playful reply in your cat's voice, based on their name, breed, personality traits, and the photos you've uploaded. Replies are private to your account — there's no social feed and no messaging between users.
Is there a message limit?
Free accounts include 10 messages per day. When you reach the limit, you'll see a banner inviting you to upgrade to Catgrams Pro for unlimited chat. Your limit resets each calendar day.
Can I clear my chat history?
Yes. Tap the trash icon in the Chat header. You'll be asked to confirm — clearing chat permanently deletes all messages and cannot be undone.
What if I'm offline?
You can read previous messages without a connection, but sending new messages requires an internet connection.
Care, treats & streaks
What is the Care tab?
The Care tab is where you look after your cat. You'll see their Cat Sticker, three need meters (Food, Play, and Rest), and a stash of treats, toys, and yarn you can give them. When your cat has an unmet need, an orange dot appears on the Care tab.
How do I earn treats, toys, and yarn?
Chat with your cat to earn rewards. You get a bonus for your first message of the day, every third message, and at streak milestones (2, 3, 5, and 7 days). Opening the app once per day (after your signup day) can also grant daily bonus rewards.
What are streaks?
Chat on most days to build a streak. If you miss a single day, your streak is safe — you get a one-day grace period. Longer streaks unlock extra rewards at 3, 5, and 7 days.
Catgrams Pro
Catgrams Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks more of the app. Here's how Free and Pro compare:
- Chat: 10 messages/day (Free) · Unlimited (Pro)
- Photos: Up to 10 (Free) · Up to 50 (Pro)
- Random photo in chat: Pro only
- Cat Sticker: One base sticker (Free) · Mood pack with up to 3 remakes (Pro)
- Premium stash items: Pro only (salmon sashimi bite, catnip mouse, feather wand)
How do I subscribe?
Tap Upgrade to Pro on the Account tab, or when you hit a free limit in chat. Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) and processed by RevenueCat.
How do I restore or manage my subscription?
On the Account tab, tap Restore purchases if you reinstalled the app or switched devices. If you're already subscribed, tap Manage subscription to change or cancel through your App Store settings.
My subscription isn't working
Try Restore purchases on the Account tab. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase. If the problem continues, email support@catgrams.com with the email on your Catgrams account.
Cat Sticker
The Cat Sticker is a cartoon version of your cat that appears on the Care screen. Free accounts get one base sticker generation. Catgrams Pro adds a mood pack — four stickers that change based on your cat's Food, Play, and Rest meters — plus up to three remakes.
Creating or upgrading a sticker pack can take a minute or two. You'll see a progress screen while it's being built. You can create or remake stickers anytime from the Account tab.
Photos & permissions
Why does Catgrams need photo access?
Catgrams needs access to your photo library so you can upload pictures of your cat. Photos are stored securely and used only for your daily Catgram, chat, and Cat Sticker. There is no in-app camera — photos are selected from your library.
How many photos can I upload?
Free accounts can store up to 10 photos. Pro accounts can store up to 50. Tap a photo in Account to set it as your cat's chat profile picture.
Delete my account
You can permanently delete your account from inside the app:
- Open the Account tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice — deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
This removes your account, your cat's profile, all uploaded photos, chat history, and care progress. If you signed in recently with email and password, you may be asked to sign out and sign back in first for security.
